New Sunday School Series: Gospel-Centered Marriage

Gospel-Centered Marriage is an 8-week Sunday school series that begins on March 2, 2025. Each session builds on the previous one by first establishing a gospel‐centered foundation, then addressing personal and relational issues, and, finally, casting vision for a vibrant, joy-filled marital journey. The homework/application is something for couples to focus on during the week outside the class, facilitated by questions we’ll provide.

Session Breakdown:

  • Week 1: Foundations of a Gospel-Centered Marriage
Establish the biblical view of marriage as a covenant that points to the gospel, and that really depends on the Gospel.

  • Week 2: Rediscovering Identity in Christ and in Marriage
Understand how our identity as redeemed children of God impacts our roles within marriage.

  • Week 3: Communication – Speaking Truth in Love
Develop healthy, God-honoring communication skills. We will look at this before considering roles because fulfilling God’s roles in marriage in a way that honors him requires personal character that reflects Christ likeness.

  • Week 4: Navigating Conflict and Embracing Forgiveness
Address conflict as an opportunity for grace and growth based on our faith in Christ and his grace towards us.

  • Week 5: Roles – Submission, Headship, and Service to Christ Above All
Explore the dynamics of roles, submission, and selfless service.

  • Week 6: Cultivating Intimacy – Emotional, Spiritual, and Physical
Strengthen the core of marital intimacy. All the other aspects of marriage are heightened here, and when this area is marked by love and Christlikeness, every other area is likely to as well.

  • Week 7: Stewardship, Priorities, and the Kingdom Home
Align practical aspects of life—finances, time, and priorities—with the kingdom mindset. Is our faith at the foundation of how we live together?

  • Week 8: Living Joyfully and For Christ Together
Cast a vision for the future that embraces joy, growth, and outreach.
